Gluten-free:
- Pick GF cookies, GF brownies, or swap biscuit chunks for nuts, cocoa nibs, or fruit ripples.
Lower sugar:

This article is such a fun post! I absolutely love that everything is simple and no‑churn – perfect for cooking with little chefs who want to feel like pros in the kitchen. My favourites have got to be the Strawberry, Mint Choc Chip, and the DIY Oreo option! My kids like to try new things in the kitchen, the mess they make! But the priceless lit faces are worth all that!
Can’t wait to get my mini‑team involved this weekend. Seriously, thank you for putting this together and keep these kid‑friendly ice cream creations coming!!
Hi @GapIQ,
Thank you so much for your comment. I’m so glad that you appreciated our article and the recipes we shared.
The Oreo one is always a hit here too (though it mysteriously disappears very quickly… ).
It sounds like you’ve got an enthusiastic little crew in the kitchen — messy hands, big smiles, and all!
Honestly, that’s what it’s all about. I hope you and your mini-team have loads of fun mixing, scooping, and taste-testing this weekend.
Let me know how the flavours go down, or if they invent a new combo of their own — I’d love to hear it!

I loved this website! This website will bring the kid out of anyone no matter the age. I was getting very excited about some of these simple recipes. I loved the strawberry and cream and the chocolate and peanut butter. The rest of the recipes all sounded very good but what stood out to me was how easy they were to make. Oh and before I forget I had never heard of the watermelon Ice or the strawberry banana lolly. I think I will be making those very soon.
Hi Neal,
Always lovely to see you here, and I’m so glad you enjoyed our article.
You’re right — there’s something about ice cream recipes that instantly brings out our inner kid, no matter our age.
The strawberry & cream and chocolate & peanut butter are definite classics, but I’m glad you spotted the watermelon ice and strawberry banana lolly — they’re both so refreshing and perfect for these summer, warmer days.
I’d love to hear what you think once you’ve tried them, and if you add your own twist!
Thanks again for your lovely words, Neal — always appreciated.
All the best,
Cherie
What a delightful and inspiring post—thank you for sharing these easy homemade ice cream recipes! The variety—from fruity popsicles to classic vanilla—makes it simple for any parent or guardian to create fun treats at home. I especially like how you included allergy-friendly options and simple steps that young kids can follow with minimal supervision.
Quick question: have you experimented with incorporating seasonal fruits like mango or dragon fruit into ice pops or soft-serve versions? And are there any tried-and-true toppings or mix-ins that kids absolutely love adding themselves?
This article definitely sparks creative ideas for family cooking and sweet bonding moments!
Hi Leahrae,
Thank you so much for your comment, I’m so glad you enjoyed the variety of recipes that we shared in this post, especially the allergy-friendly and kid-friendly touches. It’s exactly what I hoped for when putting this one together.
Yes, I’ve played around with seasonal fruits quite a bit — mango works beautifully in ice pops for a naturally creamy texture, and dragon fruit adds the most gorgeous colour (kids always think it looks magical!).
Both work well in soft-serve too, especially if you pair them with banana for extra creaminess.
As for toppings and mix-ins — you can’t go wrong with mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, or crushed cookies.
For a fruity twist, my little testers also love adding chopped strawberries, blueberries, my neighbour’s boy brought me a bunch of blackberries today, and they’re always a winner.
I’d love to hear what combinations you and your family come up with if you try any of these recipes!
All the best,
Cherie
